Ca n’t Gdocs at work. I like it. It’s not a toyota but it does look and sound nice and seems to be a good value.

It needs a 4M-E and a 5 speed or GTFO

I agree. Once I heard it i decided that I liked it. It’s styling is more or less good, and the numbers and sound track are more than enough given it’s MSRP.

I wanna hear it with a carbon fibre intake, like the E46 M3 CSL:

I would rather buy a C7 GS at $ 50-60k, more powerful, great handling, MANUAL, better sounding(imo ).

I’ll start off saying this: I am by no means a manual elitist. For a vast majority of the population, we don’t need manuals offered. However, when a car manufacturer touts that it’s going to bring back one of their most iconic enthusiast cars, it’s fair to expect a manual. So it’s definitely a disappointment that they don’t have one, especially in a sports car that’s marketed towards enthusiasts.

BMW have launched the Z4 in Oz with two engines (two tunes on the 4 cyl plus the six) and one gearbox - 8 speed ZF automatic. So it’s not like Toyota are alone in their pandering to the preferences of the majority....
Wouldn’t call any of the Z4's cheap either. The 20i is
AU$85k, the 30i is AU$105k and the M40i (6 cylinder) is AU$125k.
Not sure how Toyota Oz is going to come in much cheaper than that...

As a sports car looks great and has a lot of the right features and attributes. As a Toyota product I wonder what kind of budget did they put aside for warranty repairs. As a halo sports car from a major manufacturer like Toyota I feel it’s sad that top brass didn’t pull out the check book for this one.
Side note on Doug Demuro’s review he stated the engineering team made the Supra stiffer than the LFA. To me it’s sad that BMW could develop a stiffer chassis for a $50-60k sports car than Toyota could for their $400k sports car. I will give them that advances in metals and FEA processes over the years help BMW in this situation.

I really like it.
No manual is a disappointment, even more as destroying lap times isn’t its main focus.
Otherwise every review I’ve seen of it had me craving to take it for a drive on some n ice curves and letting the tail out in its appreciably great balance.

It says Toyota, and will be serviced and sold in a Toyota dealers. They say it’s a Toyota. Seems to be a Toyota.

Just don’t care to be honest. It will likely never be cheap enough for me to want to buy one.
I appreciate performance cars and care more about this one than the mid-engine corvette everyone is about to get all foamy at the mouth over but that’s still not much.

Considering what I’ve seen with GT86s blowing up after warranty recalls on the Subaru motor that Toyota techs clearly can’t handle, I’m not sure I’d want my bmw engine going there.

And if your Mo ther or father was Japanese? You’d also be Japanese.

Doesn’t make it any less a Toyota. Same with the rebadged Mazda they sell, it’s sold by them and says Toyota on it. You can say that it would be better to not source components from another manufacturer , but it’s still a Toyota and one that they say wouldn’t be made without the shared components. Better to share stuff than not have it.

it was built in Austria with German parts. it's as Japanese as schnitzel

That’s a different statement than “it’s not a Toyota”. Do you also say that Camrys and Tundras are American because they are built in the US with US parts?

Let me clarify, its made in A ustria with BMW parts, with BMW stampings on BMW parts, with a VIN that specifics BMW as the manufacture (W).
All Toyota made vehicles are still VIN’d with Toyota built vins, in the case of the TUNDRA 5T. There are no Toyota made VINS that start with “W”.
